Christmas 2011

We had a great whirlwind of a Christmas this year.  I was on call the 23rd-26th BUT what a difference that phrase means in private practice then it did in residency!  Instead of spending 24hr shifts planted in the hospital, I simply rounded in the mornings, fielded a few phone calls, and caught a baby or two.  Plus since little miss hasn't quite caught on to the Santa gig, it's easy to do presents on a different day or during nap time.  We hung out at Gigi and Papa J's for a few hours on Christmas Eve.  Christmas morning I woke up early to round and then Mimi came over for breakfast and LOTS of toys.  Dewey and I (Santa) bought just a couple of presents knowing that grandparents tend to get carried away.  Plus we really want to start the tradition of three gifts just as the wisemen brought Jesus 3 gifts.  After naptime (and a quick ER trip for some family chest pain...) we whipped together a Christmas dinner.  On the 27th we had Smith family Christmas compliments of Campisi's!  It was delicious.  The presents were insane as always.  Even when the adults draw names and the kids are limited on gifts it just adds up with 6 kids and 11 adults.  Lofton ran around like an absolute crazy woman!  Her shoes kept falling off, so i removed the tights so she wouldn't slip, she ripped out her bow, and i tucked her dress into her bloomers so she would stop tripping while dive bombing up the stairs :)  Below is the staged pic.  I should have gotten a picture of the reality of wonderful crazy which is our life with a toddler...
Team Mitchell
Grandbabies (minus sleeping Presley)
Love meets utter FEAR :)  that might be because L really enjoys pointing out P's eyes...

A little Gaylord ICE...very little...

"we" (I) decided it would be a fabulous idea to take Lofton to see the ICE exhibit at the gaylord texan this year.  I mean she was 18months old, didn't have a winter jacket, and had never seen shrek so why wouldn't it be perfect?  well, mommy, daddy, gigi and papa j struck out on a tuesday morning in early december.  we strolled through the hotel a bit and L thought that was great. then we got to the ICE exhibit...Lofton started saying "all done" and taking off her jacket during the preview movie before.  We lasted about 8 minutes in the actual ICE area :)  oh well.  we had fun running around the hotel and ate mi cocina on the way home.  maybe next year little love!

WAY behind

well, i am way behind so this is my list of excuses...
1) Christmas-it's just a busy time
2) Work-doesn't everyone want their pap smear during Christmas vacation?  apparently they do.
3) Computer-my computer was broken for about 2 weeks and I didn't have time to play on my computer while at work.  see #2.
4) House-many of you know about our house fiasco.  trying to buy a short sale (don't EVER do it!!), moving into the house in july a couple of days before our scheduled closing and 6 months later still no word...
5) Moving-after deciding that you can no longer handle the uncertainty you decide that you're going to move on.  You quickly learn that upon making that decision you must evacuate in 5 days!!
5) Toddler-if you have one no explanation is necessary...

this is a pic of L with her present from santa.  she brings me "hot coffee mama" everyday.  and in a fit of despair on the lack of cake in our house, she may just "bake" her own (while still having a little fit).  speaking of, if you're a mama you must read Llama Llama Mad at Mama.  it is precious/hysterical/so very true.

coming up soon  (hopefully)..
1) our trip to see ICE at the Gaylord
2) christmas
3) new house
