7 Months

well, 7 months and 1 week really... Lofton has changed so much this past month. She is developing quite the little personality and it is oh so fun. she loves playing peek-a-boo, she is sitting up very well (although she still topples from time to time), and rocking on her hands and knees in anticipation of crawling. Currently she will spin in circles on her tummy and scooch backwards. Child proofing is in our near future for sure!
We delayed solid food until 6 months since she was a little premature and oh so tiny, but she has taken to them like a champ! Lofton Elizabeth now eats rice cereal, oatmeal, green beans, peas, carrots, squash, bananas, apples, pears, and peaches. She generally has 5 bottles a day (i have officially weaned and we've made the switch to formula, freedom!!), cereal and fruit for breakfast, and 2 veggies for dinner. We're about ready for stage 2 foods. We cried it out at 6 months for 20 minutes one night and have since slept on average 11 hours a night. why didn't we do this earlier?? i just wasn't ready and i am ok with that :) lofton also giggles constantly and makes a "ba" sounds when she wants something. her favorite toy is the remote...
In less exciting news, Lofton had her first ear infection. I took her to the doctor because she had been coughing FOREVER and her lungs sounded fine, but her ears looked pretty bad. She never ran a fever and wasn't even fussy so how will I know?!! 8 days in to the antibiotic she broke out in a head-to-toe macular papular rash. poor baby! it didn't seem to bother her and dr. y (and dr. carly and dr. aubrey) says it may be a simple reaction to amoxicillin rather than an official allergy... her re-check was a few days shy of her 7 month bday and she weighed 13lb 4oz, practically a giant! i did pack up her 3 month carter's last week b/c the pants are too short. at this rate we'll be in the infant car sear for awhile...
below are a few pics. i took MANY more, but most were blurry b/c sitting still just isn't in the cards these days, but oh she is cute. we love you more with every day lofton elizabeth!

up next...our first Christmas and Santa's special present!

Give Thanks!

our first thanksgiving as a family of 3 was wonderfully hectic. i ran to the hospital for rounds from about 7-9 and tagged dewey when i got home so he could go for a "quick" 8 mile run (marathon prep....). we then headed over to my MIL's house and had a yummy thanksgiving lunch while miss priss napped. after a few hours of fun we bundled the little one up and drove to my SIL's house in murphy. lofton fell asleep as soon as we got in the car and i begged dewey (successfully) to keep driving so she could get a good nap in before all the fun. so an hour later we knew WAY more of the northeast portion of the metroplex than we ever planned to and we arrived at jeremy and marti's house well rested and ready to play. sweet marti invited everyone so i think there were 20 people there which made it loud and hectic as all holidays should be! dewey ate (again) and i enjoyed the wine. we squeezed in a couple of pics :)

since thanksgiving lofton has...
1)enjoyed her first ear infection :(
2)tried several new foods
3)currently experiencing a head-to-toe rash that is either from a virus or a penicillin allergy. the jury is still out
4)spent 7 straight days with mommy (and 5 with daddy!) which have been absolutely delicious
7 month pics will be just around the corner...

1/2 Bday

Time keeps flying by, but we're loving the sweetness along the way. Our tiny one is doing great. She is still happy almost all of the time, she laughs a lot, and she's grabbing EVERYTHING and putting it in her mouth. She sleeps on her tummy now that she is a proficient roller, and as of yesterday, we can officially say that she sits without assistance. We started rice cereal last week and tried some oatmeal tonight. Sweet potatoes are on the agenda for turkey day! My love is staying small...
12lb 12oz (5th%)
24in (5th%)
Head 10th%
She continues to stay tiny, but keeps growing and is proportional, so my pedi isn't worried at all. "Someone has to be little to make a bell-shaped curve." Good point. Here are a few pics from this month.

Halloween!

Not quite old enough for trick-or-treating. We were still in bed at 7. Candy was on the porch in a pink plastic pumpkin. A sign on the door read "Happy Halloween! Please help yourself. Shhh! Baby Sleeping :)" But that doesn't mean a girl can't throw on a tutu and get a few pics! Yep, still the cutest thing around...

We'll get that girl a whole mess of candy next year!

Too Busy to Blog

So life has been too busy to blog. I would love to say that I have been too busy loving on my precious daughter and going on weekend getaways with my husband, but that has not been the case. Just too busy living the life of a resident working 12+ hour days with a newborn sleeping less by the night :) That being said here are a few pics of fun things we have done over the past month. And yes, she does get cuter, sweeter, and more irresistable by the day.

Lofton was SO excited to see her sweet friend Charlotte. She can't wait to be as big as she is. Maybe when you're 2 sister!

4 Months-Finally!

So...since my baby girl is closer to 5 months than 4 months, I decided I was way over due. I tried to post several times, but I wanted to upload a video from my flip of her giggling and rolling over (soooo cute!) and was unsuccessful on multiple attempts. computer assistance please!
Anyway, these pics really are from 4 months. Our little love is precious as ever. Sleeping has been a little difficult. She's just so aware of everything that she stopped settling herself during the night and instead wakes up crying every 3 hours at which point i get up, nurse her, and within 3 minutes she's out cold... We actually let her fuss it out (not really cry per se) last night and it took 5 minutes at bedtime and 5 minutes once during the night. She slept 8 hours and boy did we need it!
Lofton started daycare the week of September 27th. Her teachers are great and of course adore her, but by Saturday evening she had a cold :( We went to the doctor on Tuesday b/c she was so sad i thought maybe it was an ear infection, but nope. She ran a fever that night, but by Wednesday was fever-free and on the road to recovery. She has been sleeping in her bouncer b/c of the congestion (which is a little better than Daddy's chest which is where she slept the majority of Monday and Tuesday...). I too have been bit by the daycare bug and have no voice at this point. My fever has passed and since residency does not allow much flexibility, I pray none of my patients got sick!
At 4 months Lofton is belly laughing which is to die for. She's ticklish and it is SO cute. She still only rolls from her tummy to back, but can make it from her back to her side. I stopped swaddling her arms b/c I think it's a matter of time before she officially rolls. She took her shots like a champ again and slept 10 hours that night (aww, silver lining). She's still small but growing appropriately so our pediatrician said no need to supplement with formula. That being said, she did go on a nursing strike for a while and most of her food is pumped. We'll see how much longer we do this. Not quite ready to give up those night time cuddles (or my mid morning doughnut!), but a little freedom would be nice.
Weight 11lb 1.5oz (8th %)
Height 22 3/4 in (6th %)
Head (15th %)
No giant on our hands, but she's doing great!

The littlest pumpkin....and the big 3-0!

wow, i can't believe i'm 30. BUT at 29:
i was praying for a baby, and now i have a daughter more precious than i could have dreamed of
i had only enjoyed 1 year with my hubby, and now i've had 2!
i was halfway finished with residency, and now there is only a year left
my parents were 3 hours away and now we share the same zip code.
30 seems to be looking better by the minute :)

we had a little bday party last weekend since jeremy has become a world traveler and is gone for the "real" bday. we went to matt's in lakewood and had a great time. lots of food, friends, and family. what else do you need? oh yeah, margaritas! we had those too.
then today (on the real day) i woke up to a brand new keurig coffee maker (thanks babe) and we went to the arboretum to watch dewey run a 20k and take some pics of the littlest pumpkin.

no, i wouldn't put her down...
