You know those friends that you only see once a year (at best) and it doesn't matter because you just pick up exactly where you left off? those girls that you have been through the best and WORST of times with? the ones that you spend your entire time together laughing and telling each other how beautiful and wonderful you are because you truly feel that way about each of them-inside and out? those are my Diva MD's. let me clarify the name. these girls are the least "diva-ish" people I know, but our first trip together we made a t-shirt that said "Diva MD" (yes, the entire cruise ship was super annoyed with us) and then the name just stuck. We are all from Texas and most of us met during medical school. We have now divided and 5 of us are in Texas, 4 in Cali, and 1 in Kansas. We have 2 OBGYN's, 3 Pediatricians, 1 Urogynecologist, 1 Anesthesiologist, 1 Pathologist, 1 Pediatric Neurologist (yes, she's REALLY smart!), and 1 Dermatologist. We have celebrated as each of us has gotten married and we have hugged, cried, and prayed together as some girls have endured the loss of a parent or a baby.
Our annual trips began once we graduated medical school and moved apart. That first year we had 3 weddings, but then there was a lull so we planned a trip to Scottsdale. Since our get-togethers are only about once a year we have to make combo trips so this was not only a vacation but also a surprise triple baby shower for our first round of pregnant mommas. We had no idea what would lie ahead. We have since had many more pregnancies, 3 weddings, and a combo double baby/lingerie shower (you just have to make it work!). The 5 mamas happen to be the 5 Texas girls so we decided that this would be our first annual Diva MD: Mommy & Me weekend. Carly's parents have a lake house just south of Dallas that they were gracious enough to let us borrow. As the days got closer, I think we all started to feel like we had made a crazy decision. Did we really decide for our mini-reunion to bring (2) two year olds, (2) one year olds, and (2) infants? and no grandmas, nannies, or daddies? you know what? it was perfection. The kiddos played wonderfully together, slept pretty well, and really took to all the new faces. The infants and 1 year olds slept in pack-n-plays, charlotte slept with her mama (well, the second night she switched with her sissy and slept in the pack-n-play while olivia slept with carly), and lofton...well, let's just say that she may or may not have slept on the dog bed in our room... i tried to get her to sleep in my bed but she kept crawling off and onto the dog bed so i through a sheet over it and let her snuggle on in :)
Lofton talking to Olivia. Olivia is giving her the eye and Charlotte is saying, "No no Lofton. That's my baby. Go get your own baby!"
playing with her sissy's feet
they may only see each other a few times a year, but they are thick as thieves when they do! charlotte is all i hear about for days after a visit. They are such sweet girls.
So the mamas really were there. We just didn't bring make-up...or cute clothes...or bras. please refer to any wedding pics for a little more glam :)
Charlotte (2 1/2), Olivia (3 mo), Clara (18 mo), Ava (18 mo), Lofton (2), Holland (4 months)
The bounce house was a HIT!
these dancing/snacking girlies just cracked us up

boat time
isn't ava just beautiful? her mother (brandy) is one of my dearest friends, but somehow this is the first time we had met. she must have known that I was already in love with her. she crawled right into my lap on several occasions.
the babies
only on a trip with all mommies will you get out of the shower and find that your child has already been bathed. this was a full tub!
i found these little gowns last year and just couldn't pass them up. charlotte kept walking around saying "we look like little angels!"
they played, they ate, they bathed......but they didn't nap. so by 7pm they were all in bed and we were making a dinner of cake straight out of the pan and several bottles of wine. i think we lasted until about 9:45. my how our saturday evenings have changed, but they just keep getting sweeter!
